Scanna Mail Room Scanner on Trigger Point ITV
In early 2024, our mail room scanner gained recognition, featuring on ITV's Trigger Point—showcasing the capabilities of our technology in a high-profile context.
Scanna acquires VC Security
In July, Scanna acquired VCsecurity from Visiconsult. This acquisition strengthens our portfolio, enhancing our ability to deliver cutting-edge X-ray technology and comprehensive security solutions. Integrating VisiConsult’s renowned expertise and innovative products allows us to offer an even broader selection of high-quality, reliable X-ray products.
Noel Cummings, Managing Director of Scanna, shared, “We’re thrilled to welcome the VCsecurity business to the Scanna family. This acquisition not only reinforces our market position but also helps us advance and support innovative solutions for our customers worldwide. Our partnership with VisiConsult in the industrial NDT sector further underscores our commitment to delivering state-of-the-art X-ray technology into adjacent market sectors.”
Exhibitions & New Product Introductions
This year, Scanna made exciting strides with several new product launches and exhibited at 30 key industry events globally raising awareness of our products and brand. New products introduced in 2024 include:
The Scansilc 4357 large-format X-ray detector was introduced for large suitcase security scanning. It is the largest single TFT for cabin bag inspection and was shortlisted for the ISE Award for Innovation.
We also launched in the UK the Itemiser® 5X, an advanced portable trace detection system, designed for fast and reliable identification of explosives and narcotics in high-security environments.
We were also excited to announce the appointment of Gilles Stevens as the head of our new NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) business unit. With 15 years of experience in radiography, Gilles will lead the establishment of our new business unit, offering a wide range of digital radiography methods, from flat panels to computed radiography scanners, alongside state-of-the-art acquisition software. This year, we exhibited at our first NDT show, Materials Testing 2024, organized by the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) and also attended The American Society for Non Destructive Testing (ASNT) show in Las Vegas.
Environment & Sustainability
Scanna is committed to sustainability and is currently preparing for ISO 14001 accreditation for environmental management, reinforcing our dedication to reducing our environmental impact.
Training & Development
2024 was a year of growth through training:
Our Summer Training Event took place at Shrivenham, bringing together teams for hands-on learning and development.
We celebrated the successful completion of Emma Davis's apprenticeship in Customer Service, and in collaboration with Swindon College, we welcomed a new Engineering Manufacturing Management Apprentice (Level 4) Aidan Hitchcock.
Scanna also participated in USBTA’s Critical Skills/Emerging Technology Event, where we highlighted our Scansilc DR portable X-ray systems. These systems, paired with Golden pulsed X-ray generators, performed brilliantly, offering fewer cables and connectors, making tasks faster and more efficient. We are proud to support bomb techs with the safest, most reliable X-ray equipment and look forward to future collaborations.
Sponsorship & Industry Engagement
We sponsored the NCT PRO Challenge in Asia, Europe, South America, Middle East, USA which provided a platform for real-world demonstrations and discussions on the evolving landscape of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and high yield Explosives (CBRNe) defence. As leaders in portable X-ray solutions for EOD and security operations, Scanna was eager to engage with the CBRNe community.
Resilience in the Face of Adversity
This year, our US office faced significant challenges when Hurricane Helene hit the Florida panhandle as a Category 4 storm, bringing high winds, extreme rainfall, and storm surges. Despite the devastation, Scanna demonstrated resilience and fortitude, ensuring continued operations and support for our customers.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we look to the future, 2025 promises to be another year of innovation and progress for Scanna. We will be launching our NDT product line, unveiling a new website to enhance the customer user experience, and introducing innovative technologies for the airport security sector. Additionally, we are embarking on an exciting new sensors R&D venture to develop cutting-edge technologies for novel applications.
We are excited for what lies ahead and grateful for the continued trust and partnership of our customers and colleagues around the world. Here’s to a successful 2025!
